Weather agency warning issued for Friday, July 5

ROANOKE, Virginia. – The heat index, or perceived temperature, will reach 38 degrees Friday afternoon for a few days. The greatest heat threat is east of the Blue Ridge Mountains and extends to Southside, Lynchburg and parts of the Roanoke Valley.

Tomorrow afternoon, maximum temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius are expected in most countries.

Morning

The areas marked red and purple have the greatest risk of heat on Friday afternoon. Please limit your time outdoors if possible, otherwise drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade.

Several clues

A heat warning is in effect for several districts in Southside and around Lynchburg tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

There is also a risk of severe storms tomorrow afternoon. We have a low risk (level 1/5).

4:00 pm morning

Showers and storms will begin shortly after lunchtime and persist throughout the afternoon, with most activity occurring between 2 and 6 p.m.
