Former Adair police chief sentenced | Raccoon Valley Radio

Brad Wendt, the former Adair police chief, was sentenced to five years in prison.

According to sources, Wendt was indicted in 2022 for lying to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and convicted on 11 counts. Those charges include making false statements and conspiracy. According to sources, a sentence of 78 to 97 months was recommended for Wendt under federal sentencing guidelines, with the prosecution asking for 84 months or seven years and the defense asking for probation.

Instead, the judge imposed a 60-month prison sentence and ordered Wendt to pay a $50,000 fine. He also criticized the ATF for repeatedly approving Wendt’s transfer requests over three years before finally ruling that the transfers were illegal.
