Star Giant suspended – K ROCK 95.5

VFL-listed Geelong West star Tanner Lewis has accepted a two-week suspension for an incident in the Giants’ loss to South Barwon.

Lewis, who has made four appearances for Geelong this year, was reprimanded by AFL Barwon’s Match Review Panel for a dangerous tackle on Swans ruck Ben Kellett.

The incident in the final quarter at the West Oval was judged to be negligent conduct, high impact force and high physical contact and was punished with a three-game penalty.

Due to his early guilty plea, Lewis will miss the matches against Leopold and Grovedale before returning for the Round of 14 encounter against St. Mary’s.

The news was better for his teammate Tylar Watts, who was considered as a replacement for South midfielder Paddy Kelly in the first season.

Due to unclear visibility, no charges were filed.

Due to a lack of foresight, St Joseph’s ruck Oli Northam also escaped a penalty for an alleged punch on Colac’s Aaron Walters during the third quarter of the Joeys’ win at Central Reserve.

In the GDFNLtheir inconclusive view meant that Werribee Central’s Henry Egan and North Geelong’s Sam Reynolds had no answer.

Egan was referred to the MRP for allegedly pushing Corio’s Aaron Taylor into the fence at Galvin Park in the third quarter of the Centurions’ victory over the Devils.

Reynolds came under scrutiny for alleged heavy contact with Geelong West’s Tom Burke during the third quarter of the Magpies’ win at Keith Barclay Oval.
