The leader of a cult who calls himself “God on Earth” is being sued for £8 million in compensation after former followers claimed he raped them.

He allegedly abused Baba Balak Nath, an obscure movement in Hinduism, for his own sinister purposes.

Kalia is now being sued by four of his former students. They claim that their former guru exerted “undue influence” on them by groping and raping them.

In the Supreme Court case, it was ruled that Kalia began preaching in Britain after being involved in a motorcycle accident in India as a teenager.

It is said that he was able to walk again “as if by a miracle” after a visit to Himachal Pradesh – a region associated with the Hindu god Baba Balak Nath.

After opening his own temple in 1986, he allegedly began indoctrinating his followers into believing he was “an incarnation of God and/or the Divine.”

Mark Jones, who represents the seven plaintiffs, said: “This is an unusual case in which the plaintiffs claim to have been completely subjected to Mr Kalia’s charismatic and energetic personality for decades.”

“He portrayed himself as the incarnation of God by supposedly performing miracles.

“The ability of the plaintiffs free his demands for financial and sexual Advantages was overridden. They were unable to resist.”

A woman cried as she told the court how she was raped at least 1,320 times within 22 years of joining the church as a single mother.

She claimed that Kalia told her that his “disgusting” sexual perversions were “similar to the relationships enjoyed by the Hindu god Krishna.”

Another alleged victim said the ringleader started abusing her when she was 13 and took her virginity at age 21 in a hotel he had booked her into.

She told the court that she was threatened with acid after going to the police and was later falsely arrested for child abuse.

Another woman claims she was groped from the age of 13 and had her virginity taken by Kalia, while a fourth claims she was inappropriately kissed from the age of four.

Others claim they were tricked into sending money to Kalia, with one paying £5,000 to “cure her dog’s cancer.”

West Midlands Police had previously attempted to charge Kalia with criminal offences related to the alleged sexual abuse.

Prosecutors said there was a “clear and compelling public interest” in doing so, but the case was dropped in 2017 due to insufficient evidence.

Kalia, who lives with his wife in a £1.1 million mansion, denies all allegations.

The case continues.
