At least one person hospitalized after serious accident in New Castle – First update from the state

At approximately 4:43 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of S Dupont Hwy and Quigley Blvd in New Castle.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, they found a vehicle partially lodged under a tractor-trailer with at least one person trapped inside. At 4:56 p.m., Wilmington Manor Command confirmed that one patient had been extricated from the vehicle, while efforts to extricate a second trapped patient were ongoing.

During the recovery efforts, Wilmington Manor Command requested an additional ambulance to the scene, but it is not clear if one was dispatched. At least one patient was transported to Christiana Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. The patient’s current condition is unknown.

According to initial reports, the collision occurred when a vehicle stopped at a traffic light was hit from behind and pushed into the semi-trailer. The exact number of other patients involved in the accident is not yet known.
