The police pursuit ends with the suspect’s arrest and the injury of a deputy

ALAMO, Tenn. — A police pursuit in West Tennessee left one officer injured and one suspect behind bars.

There was a chase in Crockett County today. Sheriff Troy Klyce of the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department said Deputy Logan Pitt and K-9 Wren were conducting a drug interdiction on Highway 412 when they found a vehicle without a license plate and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the suspect refused to stop.

“(He) ran through several fields, back onto the 412, then right down Cavalier Drive in front of the sheriff’s department and then past the high school here, then the field behind us and finally we caught him there,” said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.

In the field across from Crockett County Middle School, the suspect jumped out of his still-moving vehicle and a short chase ensued. A police officer injured his leg during the chase.

“We don’t know if his leg was broken or what happened, but it sounded like a serious leg injury and he was transported to the hospital by ambulance,” Sheriff Klyce said.

During this chase, K-9 Wren tracked the suspect to a ditch and chased him onto a nearby road.
The suspect, Julian Rogers, 33, of Ripley, was taken into custody without incident.

“So right now we have numerous charges, multiple felonies, obviously driving while revoked,” Sheriff Klyce said.

Since the deputy was injured during the chase, Sheriff Klyce says this is an improvement in preventing felony arrests. Rogers’ arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday

He is being held in the Crockett County Jail on $250,000 bail.
