Weather First Alert: Most storms miss Rochester, News10NBC Yellow Alert remains in effect

ROCHESTER, NY — Although potentially threatening weather was in the offing Sunday, most of the major storms remained well south and east of Western New York.

There’s still a slight chance of thunderstorms through Sunday evening as we wait for a cold front to cross the area. For this reason, News10NBC’s yellow warning will remain in effect until early or mid-Sunday evening. As the front passes, the threat of thunderstorms will end and the weather will return to significantly cooler and less humid. For most of us, this should be a refreshing change as we start the work week. However, this more pleasant weather won’t last long as another round of heat and humidity will return on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There is still a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Sunday evening. Otherwise it will be cooler at night, with lows falling below 15 degrees. On Monday there is a chance of a few showers in the morning, followed by sunny spells in the afternoon. It will be more pleasant, with temperatures rising to 25 to 29 degrees. On Tuesday and Wednesday it will be hot and humid again in Rochester, with temperatures rising to over 27 degrees. There will be a few thunderstorms again on Wednesday.
