Previously, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (Democrat) and former Representative Adam Kinzinger (Republican, Illinois) appeared on Maher’s show “Real Time” to warn internet users about a possible return of Trump to the White House and to discuss the allegations against the Republican leader.

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote on Saturday: “Bill Maher, the completely overrated ‘star’ of the low-rated show whose program is filled with fake, loud and annoying laughter every few seconds, even when nothing funny is being said (which is most of the time!).”

The former president continued his tirade against Maher, saying he was suffering from the incurable Trump Derangement Syndrome, also known as TDS.

Cuomo and Maher discuss cases against Trump

Cuomo and Maher discussed their opinions on Trump’s hush money case in New York before the presidential election, saying that it not only politicized the legal system but also benefited his campaign. Maher countered that the focus should have been on the former president’s election interference cases.

“If only they had heard the one about the attempt to overthrow the United States government. That’s the main thing! He tried to overthrow the United States government! And we will never hear that,” Maher said on his show on Friday night.

“Trump is a guy: the more he goes to prison, the more popular he becomes. He has street credibility, he’s like a rapper,” he added.

Cuomo pointed to Kinzinger and remarked, β€œAnd good for you on January 6th.”

Cuomo agreed with Maher, who claimed that Trump’s trial was the largest fundraiser of all time. According to him, the former president was lagging behind Biden, but now he has quite a lead.

During his last term in Congress, Kinzinger was part of the House select committee that investigated the attack on the Capitol. After the events of January 6, 2021, he broke off relations with Trump and the Republican Party.

Trump warns Republican leaders

Trump warned his Republican colleagues not to get involved with Maher and his show. “Republicans should stop using him as a reference point, his show is dead!”

In recent months, Maher has faced opposition from both parties over his comments ahead of the 2024 elections.

Earlier this month, Maher predicted that Trump could garner enough American votes in November and declared that incumbent President Joe Biden would lose this year’s presidential election.

Maher has been attacking both parties since March, when he promised to do everything in his power to prevent Trump from being elected.
