Milford Police Warn State Residents of Fraud

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) – Milford police have issued a warning to Connecticut residents after a man posing as a police officer stole money from a local restaurant.

Police say a man claiming to be a lieutenant with the Milford Police Department called Walnut Beach Creamery on Friday about an investigation into counterfeit money. The company said the man asked suspicious questions, such as where cash was kept.

According to officials, later that same day, a second business, Café Atlantique, reported that it had been defrauded of $780 by the same person via electronic transfer.

“If you receive such a call, please do not share any information and report the case to your local police department,” Milford police said.

The Milford Detective Bureau is investigating. Check back later for updates.
