Brian Peck, the former dialogue coach who was found guilty of sexually abusing former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell, owned a signed self-portrait of notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy, which he displayed in front of another child star.

The revelation appeared in an upcoming ID docuseries. Peace on set: The dark side of children’s televisionPremiering March 17, the show exposes the price many former child actors say they paid for working long hours in an emotionally manipulative and sometimes sexually charged environment.

In an exclusive clip shared with PEOPLE, All that Actor Kyle Sullivan, then 14, tells how he saw Peck’s house from the inside, where there was a shrine, planet of monkeys and – most notably – a painting of a clown holding balloons that seemingly has nothing to do with the famous sci-fi franchise.

Sullivan says that when he asked Peck about the painting, the dialogue coach was excited.

“Brian turned the thing over and on the back it said, ‘For Brian, I hope you like the painting. All the best, your friend John Wayne Gacy,'” Sullivan recalls in the clip.

The former child star also said Peck owned a collection of letters he received from Gacy, who was known as the “Killer Clown” and raped and killed over 30 young men and boys in the 1970s.

“Brian actually developed a pen pal relationship with John,” says Sullivan. “He had this stack of letters and photos of John Wayne Gacy in his nightstand next to his bed.”

“When we came across this revelation while filming this documentary, we were shocked,” said the series’ directors, Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz. “It raised many questions about power dynamics on and off set, and what dangers were hiding in plain sight. Exploring these dynamics and uncovering the secrets behind culture creation is at the heart of what we are trying to do with this series.” Peace on set.”

Bell, who is prominently featured in Peace on set, says Peck, whom he met on the set of The Amanda Show, became his manager after originally working with him as a dialogue trainer.
