12-year-old seriously injured in accident on Father’s Day | Latest news

A 12-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a car in Slidell on Father’s Day.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday (June 16, 2024), Slidell Police received several 911 calls reporting that a child had been hit by a car near the intersection of Fremaux Avenue and 10th Street.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the boy ran into the roadway while chasing his dog. A Ram 2500 pickup truck traveling east on Fremaux Avenue struck the boy. As a result of the collision, the child suffered serious injuries and was taken to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, where he is currently in critical condition.

Traffic investigators are still reviewing evidence and witness statements, but do not believe impairment or speed contributed to this accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
