Forecast First warning: Heat warning comes into force this afternoon

Minnesota’s weather agency has issued a first warning for Sunday. Father’s Day Sunday is expected to be mostly dry. The caveat: It will be hot and muggy, with highs reaching the low 90s in parts of the state. The heat and humidity could make it feel like high 90s to low 100s for most of the afternoon, and that’s why the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. this afternoon and early evening. During the overnight hours, an approaching cold front could bring strong or severe storms, but the focus will be on the potential for heavy rain.

Unsettled and stormy weather will continue throughout next week, with several inches of rain possible by next weekend.
