Police: Group responding to road rage incident stabbed and beaten on Boston Common

PROBLEM. IT’S BEEN HAPPENING FOR SO LONG THAT WE’RE FRUSTRATIONS. PENNY GADD OWNS LAMBERT’S MARKETPLACE, WHICH IS LOCATED ALONG THE COMMON. HE SAYS CRIME ON THE CORNER OF PARK AND TREMONT IS OUT OF CONTROL. IF THEY DO THAT. WE HAVE TO CLEAN UP, FOR SAFETY, NOT JUST FOR US HERE, FOR THE PEOPLE WHO COME IN AS VISITORS, FOR THE IMAGES OF THE CITY, JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY FROM HIS STORE, AN OUTBREAK OF VIOLENCE. FOUR PEOPLE WERE INJURED, TWO OF THEM STABBED. THE INJURIES ARE NOT LIFE-THREATENING. The incident there was the result of road rage. Some people tried to intervene and the situation escalated, leading to a possible stabbing. This was the second act of violence this week in this area. On Monday evening, a man was shot near Brewer Fountain. The suspected shooter is now in custody. This corner of the Common is popular with tourists starting the Freedom Trail. Arguments, violence and assaults occur. Councilman Ed Flynn has organized a meeting with residents and business owners this afternoon. A stronger police presence and enforcement is needed to prevent criminal activity. RESIDENTS HAVE OPPOSED THIS CALL, BUT ALSO HOPE THE CITY WILL ADD MORE POSITIVE ACTIVITIES TO THE AREA. LIKE IN OTHER PARTS OF THE GENERAL AREA. I THINK FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE RESIDENTS, WHAT WE HAVE HEARD, YOU KNOW, FROM OUR, UH, OUR PEOPLE HERE IN DOWNTOWN IS THAT WE NEED MORE ACTIVITY SEEN ON THE EDGES OF THE GENERAL. AS FOR THE INCIDENT LAST NIGHT, THERE WERE NO ARRESTS MADE. COMMISSIONER COX ASKS FOR ANYONE WHO
