NYPD and Woodbridge officers shot in New Jersey, suspect killed

WOODBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, NJ (PIX11) – Two police officers were shot and a suspect was killed during an investigation in New Jersey Thursday night, officials said.

According to sources, a shootout occurred between police and the suspect at the Raritan Hotel, 1050 King Georges Post Road, in Fords.


Police were trying to locate a suspect wanted for murder, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. The investigation involved an incident that occurred in Manhattan on June 6, he said.

According to sources, an NYPD officer was shot in the foot and a Woodbridge detective was also shot. The suspect was shot at the scene, according to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin.

Both officers are recovering from their injuries, Platkin said.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s office was expected to release more information about the shooting later Thursday.
