One dead in south Houston shooting

One person was killed in a shooting in south Houston Wednesday evening, police said.

Around 7:30 p.m., officers received a report of a shooting in the 5600 block of Selinsky, near Martin Luther King Boulevard, HPD Lt. Larry Crowson said.

After arriving, officers found a man dead from a single gunshot, Crowson said. They also found a 16-year-old boy who had been pistol-whipped. He was taken to hospital.

A white Nissan sedan that left that location and struck a nearby garage was seen nearby, he said. Officers tracked down the vehicle and found another man who had been shot once, Crowson said. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

It is believed the shooting may have stemmed from an altercation, he said. An investigation was underway.
