Connecticut man dies after motorcycle crash caused by deer

MIDDLETOWN, CT (WWLP) – A Connecticut man has died after crashing his motorcycle over the weekend because of a deer.

According to Middletown police, the 53-year-old Michael Thiede was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson on Randolph Road on Saturday night when a deer jumped into the road directly in front of him near Zoars Pond. Officials said he swerved and then crashed into a railing.


Due to his injuries, Thiede died in the accident. His passenger, 49-year-old Rebekah Cardona, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is still in critical condition.

This accident is under investigation by the Middletown Traffic Police. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call 860-638-4061.
