Ryan Garcia was reportedly arrested in Los Angeles for vandalism

American boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested Saturday afternoon and charged with vandalism, according to a report from TMZ Sports Saturday evening.

According to TMZ, Garcia was taken into custody after damaging his room and a hallway at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California.

Garcia, 25, has been in the headlines since defeating fellow American Devin Haney by majority decision in Brooklyn on April 20. On April 19, he tested positive for a banned substance, a charge he denies.

The boxer, who hails from Victorville, California, has a lifetime record of 25-1 and was briefly the interim WBC lightweight champion in early 2021. On April 22, 2023, he lost for the first time by knockout in the seventh round to fellow countryman Gervonta Davis.

TMZ wrote that Garcia “appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs” and “walked away peacefully” after his arrest. The newspaper had previously reported that police conducted a welfare check on Garcia on Wednesday at the request of a family member.
