Buffalo’s Sophie Berglund continues her track career at ORU

Buffalo’s Sophie Berglund has signed to compete in track and field at Oral Roberts University. Berglund is a four-time state qualifier at the State Outdoor Track Championships and a three-time state qualifier at the State Indoor Track Championships. She was a jumper and outfielder in her prep career for the Bison.

Sophie competed in the national athletics competition last month in the triple jump and pole vault. She placed fifth in the triple jump. Berglund had a career-best mark of 35-1.25 during the 2024 season. She also had a personal best mark of 15-7 this spring in the long jump. As a junior in 2023, Berglund competed in the same two events at the state championships. She finished seventh in the triple jump. That came after a 3A East regional title in that event at 34-2.50. Berglund finished second in the pole vault at the same regional track meet. She competed in the triple jump and pole vault at the national outdoor track and field competitions in 2021 and 2022. Her career record in pole vault was 9–2 in the 2022 season.

In indoor track, Berglund competed in the pole vault, triple jump and long jump at the 2024 state championships. She placed fourth in the triple and fifth in the pole vault. In 2023, Sophie was a 3A finalist at the state indoor track and field competition in the triple jump and also competed in the pole vault. She ran the 400 meter, vault and triple jump at the 2022 national indoor track and field meet. Berglund also ran the 200 meter, 800 meter and 55 meter hurdles during her prep indoor track career.

Berglund was also an all-state choir singer in high school.

Oral Roberts University is located in Tulsa, OK. The Golden Eagles compete at the NCAA Division I level and are members of the Summit League.
