Two police investigations in southwest Rochester

Police investigations in and around Columbia Avenue

ROCHESTER, NY — Two police investigations took place Tuesday evening in southwest Rochester, on Columbia Avenue and in the surrounding area.

At about 8:01 a.m., officers went to Columbia Avenue and found evidence of gunfire and a home in the 400 block that had been struck by gunfire. Six people, ranging in age from 4 to 57, were inside the home, but no one was injured.

Just hours before this incident, a 22-year-old man was found shot to death on the same block of Columbia Avenue. Police say he was actually shot a few blocks away. Officers were called to Frost Avenue around 2:20 p.m. because a group of men were shooting at each other. The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. No one else was injured.

So far, no suspects are in custody in either case.
