NASCAR fines Kyle Weatherman $25,000 for Portland incident

Weatherman, who drives full-time for DGM Racing in the No. 91 Chevrolet, was penalized for violating sections 4.4.B and D of the NASCAR rulebook, which references the sport’s code of conduct.

The penalty report specifically mentioned “contact with another vehicle on the pit lane after the race.”

After the race ended on Saturday, Weatherman apparently intentionally crashed into the No. 39 Ford of driver Ryan Sieg as both were on pit road. The drivers had made contact on the track during the race.

Sieg finished 14th and Weatherman 25th on the 3.21-kilometer street circuit with twelve corners.

According to the regulations, “intentionally causing damage to another vehicle on the pit lane” can result in a loss of 25 to 50 points for the driver and/or team owner and/or fines of between $25,000 and $50,000.

Weatherman is 22nd in the series standings and has one top-10 finish this season, eighth at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway.

Sieg is 11th in the series standings with one top-five finish and three top-10 finishes, with his best result being a second-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway.
