Keith Russell, 53, the longtime Greencastle police officer who was sworn in as police chief less than a month ago, died Friday evening.

Notification of the death of Chief Keith Russell

“It is with great sadness that the Greencastle Police Department in Franklin County, PA announces the passing of Police Chief Keith Russell due to illness. Chief Russell was sworn in on May 6, 2024 after 23 years of service and is a Gulf War veteran of the U.S. Navy. Funeral arrangements are pending.

“Please keep Chief Russell’s family, the Greencastle police family and our community in mind and pray for them.”
