The main accused, Salim, is seen wielding a sword while his accomplices brandish iron rods and sickles and drag the 22-year-old bride into the street. Fortunately, a large crowd of locals gathered at the scene, forcing the attackers to flee the scene on their motorcycles and possibly saving the woman from a grim fate.

Later, hours after the shocking incident, an FIR was filed against Salim and the other accused based on a complaint filed by the woman and her father with the police.

“Bulldozer Justice”

Meanwhile, following the FIR, the district authorities in Ashoknagar meted out ‘bulldozer justice’ on the accused Salim and reduced his house to rubble on Friday.

“Given the nature of his crime, action against such criminals was inevitable. When the police took cognizance of the matter, they wrote a letter to SDM regarding the accused. He forwarded the letter to the municipal corporation and the revenue department, and the latter found the house to be illegal,” SDPO Ashoknagar, Vivek Sharma, told news agency PTI.

“We sent a notice and immediate action was taken. Four members of the same family were involved in the case, including the main accused. The main accused has gambling and NDPS violation cases registered in his name and has been in jail many times in the past,” he claimed.
