Star Douglas County High School Track and Field Coach Charged With Sexually Abusing Student on Campus – 95.5 WSB

LITHIA SPRINGS, Georgia – A Douglas County teacher and coach has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a student.

The sheriff’s office said it learned on May 27 of allegations of sexual misconduct against Kerry Hood, a teacher and track coach at Lithia Springs High School.

The student said the incidents occurred on school grounds and at other locations, including in other states.

Hood was arrested when he turned himself in on May 29. The investigation is ongoing. It is unclear if there are any other victims.

The victim has not been identified. It is unclear if Hood is still employed by the school. He is still listed in the staff directory.

On social media, Hood is listed as the head coach of the high school’s girls track and field team. The team won the GHSA state championship in track and field this year.

In 2019, he won the award for best rookie teacher.
