4 Houston Texans who have the most to prove in 2024

Derek Stingley Jr. had a nice bounce-back season in 2023. A rookie in 2022, Stingley looked pretty bad and didn’t look like he belonged on an NFL field at times. In year two, however, Stingley increased his game to approach Pro Bowl levels of play. He developed into a player many considered a potential All-Pro and one of the best young corners in the league currently. The only thing is that talent is much more about consistency than anything else.

And if Stingley wants to prove he’s a true star in the league, he needs to be consistent year after year. Especially as he nears the end of his rookie contract. Stingley, who is in the third year of his contract, will soon be eligible for an extension. This extension won’t be as big as he hoped if he falls off or slows down at all in 2024. If his production isn’t as good as it was in 2023, or even better, then there’s no justification Stingley to get the massive deal he will likely demand.

Year 3 doesn’t make a difference to him as a player, but this is the year many will be looking to see if he’s worth some of these massive extensions we’re seeing around the league.
