65-year-old Mary Hardin dies, Paul Hardin, Mark Rivera hospitalized, David Alvarado arrested in DUI crash on Highway 41 near Manning Avenue

FRESNO, CA (May 20, 2024) — Mary Hardin died Saturday in a three-car crash on Highway 41 near Manning Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. For DUI reasons, 54-year-old David Alvarado failed to stop his truck behind a stopped Nissan Sentra that was behind a Chevrolet Camaro. Alvarado’s Ford F-250 pickup then plowed into the Nissan, hitting the Camaro in front of him.

Paramedics responded shortly thereafter and found the driver of the Nissan Sentra with fatal injuries. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office identified her as 65-year-old Mary Hardin of Helotes, Texas. Her 69-year-old passenger and husband, Paul HardinHe suffered serious injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital.

Also 31 years old Mark Anthony Riveraof Fresno – the Camaro’s sole occupant – and Alvarado both suffered minor injuries in the collision.
