Brewer’s public safety director is returning to work after being placed on leave in March

BREWER, Maine (WABI) – Brewer’s public safety director has returned to work after being placed on leave following a deadly shooting in March.

Jason Moffitt shot and killed a man who police said was suspected in a Walmart robbery.

Deputy Chief Chris Martin said the city and an outside incident review team conducted their own reviews and found no evidence of wrongdoing.

Martin also says Moffitt participated in mental health evaluations while on administrative leave.

He was cleared to return to duty last Friday.

As usual, the Maine Attorney General’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
