Dubuque forward received one game suspension after Clark Cup Game 1 hit – The Rink Live

FARGO – Dubuque forward Teddy Merrill was suspended one game for head contact, a hit that took Fargo’s Tom Leppa out of the game in the first period of Game 1 of the Clark Cup Finals on Friday.

Leppa was on the ice when the play went into the Force’s offensive zone. No penalty was assessed against Merrill during the game. Leppa was helped off the ice by the Fargo training staff and did not return.

The USHL reviewed the game and imposed the suspension on Saturday.

Force head coach Brett Skinner said it was a “wait and see” situation with Leppa watching the game. However, the striker from Finland was back in the squad for Game 2 on Saturday.

It was Merrill’s second one-game suspension of the season and was also charged with a similar violation in November.
