Hamza Badat, formerly of Levington Road, Ipswich, was jailed at Ipswich Crown Court this week after being found guilty of raping a woman last month.

Badat met the victim on October 25, 2018 at a mutual friend’s house.

The victim and Badat did not know each other before and that night Badat dragged her into a bedroom and raped her.

Badat was not only detained, but also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

Olubunmi Abodunde, 48, was this week sentenced to life in prison for murder after he beat his wife to death in a “brutal and premeditated” attack with their son’s skateboard.

Judge Martyn Levett described the murder of 41-year-old mother-of-three Taiwo Abodunde as “cruel, ruthless, cold-blooded, callous and cruel”.

He said Ms Abodunde was so badly injured that a pathologist was unable to estimate the number of blows inflicted on her.

Abodunde pleaded guilty to murder last month after initially denying the charge.

He was told he would have to spend at least 17 years behind bars for the murder.
