Woodbridge man charged with strangulation and assault in domestic incident


WOODBRIDGE, VA— A domestic dispute escalated into violence in Woodbridge and led to the arrest of 54-year-old Mohamed Kameleddine Amara. The incident occurred at approximately 7:02 p.m. on July 28 at a residence on Eden Lane.

During the altercation, Amara reportedly struck a 56-year-old female family member and then strangled her. When a 19-year-old male family member tried to intervene, Amara allegedly grabbed his arm, further escalating the conflict.

Police arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, which resulted in Amara being charged with strangulation and two counts of domestic violence and assault. He was arrested following the incident. Details of his court date and bail status are pending. Minor injuries were reported to those involved.

    Washington, DC — Efforts are underway to identify the suspects involved in an armed carjacking in Southeast DC

    Early Friday, July 19, at approximately 2:04 a.m., a man was in his vehicle in the 1000 block of Half Street, Southeast, and was approached by several individuals. During the confrontation, an assailant brandished a rifle and forced the victim to exit his car. The group then fled in the vehicle.

    Surveillance cameras captured images of three suspects that are now circulating.

    Citizens with information are asked to contact police at (202) 727-9099 or submit a tip through the department’s text message TIP HOTLINE at 50411. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this violent crime.

  • 14-year-old boy shot in Baltimore

    BALTIMORE, Maryland. – Early Saturday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1100 block of North Lakewood Avenue, resulting in the discovery of a 14-year-old male shooting victim.

    At approximately 12:23 a.m. on July 27, officers received a second call that led them to the 1100 block of North Luzerne Avenue, where they found the young victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The investigation determined the shooting occurred on North Lakewood Avenue.

    The Southeast District Shooting Investigators have taken over the case.

    Huntington Station, New York – The New York Lottery announced that a grand prize ticket for the July 27 TAKE 5 EVENING drawing was sold in Huntington Station.

    The winning ticket, valued at $34,038, was purchased at King Kullen, 275 W Jericho Turnpike.

    Five numbers are drawn from a field of 1 to 39. The draws are broadcast on television twice a day at 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Winnings from the lottery draw can be claimed up to one year after the draw date.
