Lavaca Medical Center, EMS and local authorities participate in mass casualty response exercise | News

LAVACA COUNTY, Texas – A mass casualty response drill will be held from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on August 2 in the parking lot of Hallettsville Brahma Memorial Stadium. The drill will involve Lavaca Medical Center and Lavaca County EMS, as well as local emergency services and Hallettsville ISD.

The exercise will simulate a school bus accident. The simulated accident will take place on the west side of the parking lot. The entire parking lot will be cordoned off and closed to the public during the exercise.

“This exercise is designed to assess the emergency preparedness of Lavaca County first responders, Lavaca Medical Center and our regional mutual aid partners during a multi-casualty/patient incident,” said Greg Murrile, Lavaca County Emergency Management Coordinator. “The timing of this Friday morning exercise allows for a strong mutual aid response and provides an opportunity to test, practice, evaluate and refine our emergency response protocols and incident command capabilities during a multi-casualty incident.”
