25-year-old Charlottesville man arrested following sexual assault investigation in Albemarle County

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Albemarle County Police made an arrest Monday following a sexual assault investigation.

On Friday, June 7, police launched a sexual assault investigation after a victim reported an assault that had occurred the day before.

According to police, after completing the investigation, police charged 25-year-old John G. Bencid of Charlottesville and arrested him on Monday, July 22.

Police confirmed that Bencid was charged with rape and sexual penetration with objects. He is currently being held without bail at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
