MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. suspended classes and work at government offices in Metro Manila on Tuesday afternoon after Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi) and the southwest monsoon brought inclement weather.

The announcement was made on the Presidential Communications Office’s Facebook page.

“Sinuspinde of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was visited by government offices in the National Capital Region at 2:00 p.m. on July 23, 2024, after being passed by #CarinaPH in the southwest monsoon,” Palace said.

(President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in schools in the National Capital Region effective July 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. due to persistent rains caused by Typhoon #CarinaPH and the southwest monsoon.)

“Carina” has prompted the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration to issue wind signal warnings in several areas of the country.
