Investigation into the fire in Sandhurst concludes that the cause is unknown

SALT LAKE CITY – According to the Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team, emergency crews were unable to determine the cause of the Sandhurst fire after an investigation.

As of Monday, the fire was 82 percent contained and still had an area of about 200 acres.

Brian Trick, the team’s spokesman, said there was no fire spread overnight and that crews were able to secure the perimeter to prevent the fire from spreading. Trick added that he hopes the containment rate will increase by Monday evening.

All evacuations were lifted Sunday evening, but authorities continued to urge anyone who does not live there to avoid the area.

Several hiking trails remain closed to the public:
• Ensign Summit
