Atlanta United doubt Miranchuk as Atalanta look to sell him

Atlanta United are close to completing a deal for Atalanta striker Aleksey Miranchuk, but the Russian forward is unwilling to leave Bergamo.

The 28-year-old has been with Gian Piero Gasperini’s side since September 2020, when he joined from Lokomotiv Moscow for around €14.5 million. He shone in his first two years at the club, but his form has started to decline in recent seasons, spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Torino.

In recent weeks, a number of MLS clubs have expressed serious interest in a move for Miranchuk this summer, including DC United and Atlanta United, with the latter continuing negotiations with Atalanta.

TMW details how Atlanta United are close to finalising a deal for Miranchuk after submitting an offer worth around €12m to Atalanta, who are happy to cash in on the 28-year-old, who is valued at around €4m on their balance sheets.

The Russian striker is not very enthusiastic about leaving Bergamo, happy to be part of Gasperini’s team, but there is still optimism that the deal can be concluded in the coming days.
