Man dead after car crash in Bath County

BATH COUNTY, Virginia. – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal car crash that occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was traveling east of Route 39 in Bath County when the truck left the road and struck a tree.

The driver was identified as Keswick Forrest Phillips, 51, of Warm Springs, Virginia. Phillips died at the scene.

VSP said Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt and that speed and alcohol played a role in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
