Man killed in rollover in Richfield, woman in critical condition

RICHFIELD – One person was killed in an accident west of Richfield Wednesday evening.

A Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on I-70 about 9 miles west of Richfield when the Jeep left the road on a curve and entered the median, the Utah Highway Patrol said.

Officials believe the driver then oversteered, veered off the road to the right and rolled down a hill, said Lt. Cameron Roden. Apparently the two passengers were not wearing seat belts and were both thrown out by the rollover.

A man in the car was killed at the scene and a woman was taken to hospital with critical injuries.

Roden said fatigue was being investigated as a possible factor in the accident.
