BRAINTREE, Massachusetts (WPRI) – Three people suspected of being linked to an international gang of thieves were arrested in Braintree last week, police said.

Carlos Ocampo-Carrillo, 47, Diana Maria Alvarado-Rosano, 34, and Lizbeth Herdandez-Gantiva, 23, were all arrested on various charges related to conspiracy to commit residential burglary.

Police said the investigation was launched after a burglary at a home in the Messin Woods neighborhood on June 20.

Two weeks later, according to police, a neighbor noticed a camera hidden in the bushes across the street, camouflaged with glued-on leaves, aimed at the house.

A camera covered in leaves that appear to be glued on has the front of its casing and lens exposed. The camera lies on a bed of dirt and sticks bordering other bushes.

Police believe the group has links to South American gangs of thieves due to the similarity of their surveillance styles. These groups find behavioral patterns of potential victims using video footage and GPS technology.

Footage of the first break-in showed that the suspects remained in the empty house for several hours.

On Thursday, Ocampo-Carrillo came from the victim’s lawn disguised as a landscaper, police said. He drove away in a black Audi and after further surveillance, police saw the vehicle return to the house later that same night.

He was seen walking toward the hidden camera and then disappeared into the bushes for 10 minutes. While officers attempted to stop Ocampo-Carrillo, Alvarado-Rosano and Hernandez-Gantiva were found in the vehicle and arrested. Ocampo-Carrillo was arrested after a foot chase.

All three suspects were arrested and arraigned in Quincy District Court.

Ocampo-Carrillo had a criminal past in California and New York. All three are citizens of Columbia.
