Chicho Arango banned for four matches for violating anti-harassment policy

HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – MLS leading scorer Chicho Arango has been suspended for Real Salt Lake’s next two regular season games, the MLS All-Star Game and its Leagues Cup match against Atlas FC on Aug. 1, for violating the league’s anti-harassment policy.

No further details were released about what exactly Arango did, but Real Salt Lake released a statement on Monday saying: “The club has fully cooperated with Major League Soccer’s investigation and accepts the disciplinary decision.”

Arango has scored 17 goals this season, tying Alvaro Saborio’s franchise record. His 17 goals make him the best player in the entire league and he is considered the favorite for the Most Valuable Player award. Arango is also second on the team with 11 assists.

Arango will miss Real Salt Lake’s crucial away games against LAFC on Wednesday and Colorado on Saturday.

Arango was selected for his first MLS All-Star Game, but had to sit out the game.

Real Salt Lake will also be without its second-leading goalscorer Andres Gomez on Wednesday. Gomez, who has scored 11 goals this season, will miss the game due to multiple yellow cards.
