Teens arrested for carjacking after hitting Visalia detective’s car | YourCentralValley.com

VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Two teenagers were arrested in connection with two car thefts after one of them collided with a Visalia detective’s vehicle, Visalia police said.

Officials say the Tulare Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (TRATT) discovered a stolen red Toyota Camry from Visalia around 3 p.m. Monday

Detectives followed the vehicle to the corner of Crenshaw Street and Victor Court, where one of the passengers got out and got into another stolen vehicle, a black Ford Edge that had not been reported stolen.

When investigators tried to stop both vehicles, a 16-year-old youth got out of the red Toyota and fled on foot. The driver of the black For Edge, also 16 years old, tried to run over an investigator and collided with his vehicle.

According to police, the black Ford Edge was disabled as a result of the collision and the driver was arrested without incident. The teenager, who fled on foot, was found hiding in a nearby backyard.

The detective involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries and officers said both juveniles were arrested on suspicion of multiple thefts. The driver of the black Ford Edge is also suspected of assaulting a police officer.
