One dead after fatal collision in Orangeburg County

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WJBF) – One person died in a fatal accident that occurred this evening, July 15, shortly after 6 p.m.

According to Lance Corporal Brittany Glover of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, the collision occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. on I-26 westbound at the 148-mile marker, approximately eight miles north of Orangeburg, SC.


The driver was in a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer and was the vehicle’s only occupant. The report states that the tractor-trailer veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

The driver suffered injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead.

At the time of writing, no further information about the crash was available.
