35-year-old woman dies after golf cart accident in Monroe County

A woman died at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in the Poconos over the Fourth of July weekend after a golf cart accident, the Lehigh County coroner’s office said.

The coroner identified the woman as 35-year-old Brenna Abbinanti of Mount Clare, West Virginia. She was pronounced dead at 9:46 p.m. Friday at Bethlehem Hospital.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on July 6 in the 6000 block of Timothy Lake Road in Middle Smithfield Township, Monroe County, according to a news release from the coroner’s office.

An autopsy conducted on Monday revealed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was accidental.

According to the coroner’s press release, Abbinanti was sitting as a passenger in the golf cart and fell out.

According to the press release, the incident is currently being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police.

Police said further information cannot be released at this time.
