Suspected shooter killed; bystander dead after attack

French President Emmanuel Macron described the assassination attempt on Sunday as a “tragedy for our democracies” and wished Donald Trump a “speedy recovery”.

“My thoughts are with President Donald Trump, the victim of an assassination attempt,” he posted on X.

“I send him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. One spectator has died, several are injured. It is a tragedy for our democracies. France shares the shock and indignation of the American people.”

Photos of the body of a possible shooter on a rooftop near the Trump rally show the person wearing promotional merchandise for one of the most popular firearms channels on YouTube.

Photos confirmed by NBC News show a person lying on a rooftop bleeding from the head, surrounded by police officers. The bleeding person is wearing a gray T-shirt with an American flag on the sleeve and partially obscured block lettering.

The look and lettering of the shirt matches the look of a shirt that is still for sale today on the website of the firearms YouTube channel Demolition Ranch.
