Border Patrol discovers 20 illegal immigrants hiding in a train car, second such incident in a week | Texas

LAREDO, Texas — US border control officials discovered 20 illegal immigrants hiding in a train car in the Laredo sector, the second such discovery within a week.

On July 12, 2024, a Cotulla Border Patrol sniffer dog alerted agents to the presence of 20 noncitizens hiding on a Union Pacific auto transport train. All individuals were detained and transported to the Cotulla Border Patrol Station for further processing, according to a U.S. Border Patrol press release.

In another incident on July 9, 2024, agents from Laredo Sector 23 found illegal immigrants hiding in another auto carrier. Agents assigned to the Cotulla Station safely rescued the individuals who had attempted to hide on a Union Pacific train, the release said.
