Suspected arsonist arrested in Butte County | News

BUTTE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA. – Butte County officials arrested an arson suspect Monday.

CAL FIRE said on Feb. 17, Butte County officials discovered an abandoned vehicle with fire damage. CAL FIRE law enforcement investigators responded and determined the fire was intentionally lit.

Further investigation led to officers arresting 54-year-old Troy Barton Wallers, to whom the vehicle was registered, for conspiracy to commit insurance fraud.

Wallers was arrested on three felony charges:

• Submitting a false insurance claim
• Destruction of property with fraudulent intent
• Conspiracy to set fire to property

Wallers is being held on $65,000 bail and on a probation violation charge.
