One dead in train accident | News in brief

AGENCY – A man died in an accident between a pedestrian and a train early Saturday morning.

According to a news release, the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from BNSF Railway around 3 a.m. after a westbound train struck and killed 47-year-old Ryan Croft of Ottumwa, who was on the tracks west of Agency.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ottumwa Police Department, Wapello County Fire Department and Reece Funeral Home.
