Eddie Rosario returns to Atlanta Braves roster

The Atlanta Braves look to win four straight games for the fifth time this season as they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Braves’ offense appears to be on the rise as they have scored five runs in four straight games and have snapped their twenty-eight-game losing streak when opposing teams score at least four runs.

Zac Gallen takes the mound for the Diamondbacks and it might be tough to get a fifth straight five-run game, but if they can get there early, it could be possible, with Arizona having a notoriously weak bullpen this season.

Players to watch for the Braves are Austin Riley, who has seen Gallen play 10 times and has had a lot of success. He has a .400 average, a 1.455 OPS and one HR. Ozzie Albies has also had a lot of success against Gallen with a .364 average, a 1.053 OPS and one HR in 11 at-bats. Olson and Arcia each have one HR against Gallen. Olson has struggled with a .584 OPS in 12 at-bats, but Arcia has a 1.000 OPS in five at-bats.

At the beginning of the year, it was almost certain that you could guess which lineup the Braves would field based on whether they were going to face a right-handed or left-handed pitcher. In recent weeks, we’ve seen a major shakeup of the outfielders. Tonight, the Braves are back with Eddie Rosario in left field and the lineup is exactly the same as last night.

The Braves bring in Chris Sale, who has been on fire in his last five starts. For the Diamondbacks, Randal Grichuck has matched up well against Sale with a .983 OPS over an extended period (20 at-bats). Kevin Newman, who hits ninth, has had success against Sale in a small sample size of four at-bats in which he has a 1.250 OPS. It’s worth noting that the Diamondbacks’ top two hitters this year, Ketel Marte and Christian Walker, have struggled against Sale in limited action. Marte has 12 at-bats against Sale and has hit just .083 with a .166 OPS (that’s not a typo). Walker has struggled to a .500 OPS in a limited sample size of four at-bats.

Former ROY winner Corbin Carroll has the night off.

The first pitch will be at 9:40 a.m. ET.
