Accident on Highway 36 in Shelby County sends driver to hospital

On July 8, 2024, at approximately 7:55 a.m., an accident occurred on Highway 36, one-half mile east of Lentner. The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrived at the scene with assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Shelbina Fire Department.

According to the accident report, a 2004 Buick Rendezvous, driven by 62-year-old Janet L. Baker of Clarence, Missouri, was traveling eastbound when the vehicle left the right side of the road. The Buick overturned into a ditch and partially submerged in water.

Janet L. Baker suffered serious injuries in the accident. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Baker was flown by MU4 helicopter to Columbia University Hospital for medical treatment.

The Buick Rendezvous was declared a total loss and towed by Shelbyville Auto Parts. Progressive Insurance is covering the vehicle.

Trooper Fuller, along with Corporal Lewis, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and the Shelbina Fire Department were on scene to assist.
