Two injured in rollover crash on I-79 – ButlerRadio.com

Two people were hospitalized Monday evening following a serious accident on I-79.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. in the northbound lane near mile marker 97, about a mile north of the Portersville exit.

When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they found that a vehicle had overturned on the median. According to dispatchers, a person was thrown from the vehicle in the accident.

A rescue helicopter was called and took one man with chest injuries to a trauma center in Pittsburgh. A second person was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital.

A section of I-79 had to be closed so emergency services could get the man to the helicopter landing zone.

The emergency services cleared the accident scene by 9 p.m.
