Near-collision between two planes in the sky over Syracuse: Incident caught on camera (video)

Video from a North Syracuse Police Department dashcam shows two planes coming dangerously close to each other over Syracuse on Monday morning. The footage shows the planes’ flight paths crossing and it appears as if they were about to collide.

The FAA said an air traffic controller instructed Blue Streak Flight 5511 to “go through” to avoid a plane taking off on the same runway. Flight 5511, a subsidiary of American Airlines, landed safely after a brief delay.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport confirmed that there were no operational disruptions and referred airspace-related inquiries to the FAA.
