4 people arrested after car break-in leads to shooting, chase in Schertz

SAN ANTONIO — Four people were arrested when an attempted burglary led to a shootout and chase in Schertz early Thursday morning.

The incident began just before 4 a.m. when a homeowner attempted to prevent a vehicle break-in at his home in the 11000 block of Holly Forest in the Willow Grove Subdivision.

Police said the burglary suspects fled to a vehicle and as they drove away, one of them shot into the air. Nobody was injured.

Officers found a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle and attempted to stop it. Police said the vehicle failed to stop, fled toward Interstate 10 and initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle crashed near FM 1518 and I-10, and four people in the car fled.

After a short chase, three people were arrested. The fourth person was arrested two hours after he was seen leaving a wooded area near the original crime scene, police said.

A gun was found in her vehicle, which was determined to have been recently stolen from San Antonio, police said.

Schertz police are asking anyone whose vehicle was broken into Wednesday evening to call 911.
